This bill amends Chapter 32A, Section 2(e) of the General Laws to expand eligibility for certain benefits to faculty members at public higher education institutions in the state, as defined in Chapter 15A, Section 5. Specifically, it adds a provision that includes faculty members who teach at least two three-credit courses per semester or four three-credit courses per calendar year at one or more of these institutions, including divisions of continuing education, regardless of how they are funded or their employment status. This provision applies even if they are part of a retirement system or plan, with the understanding that the Commonwealth, not the individual institutions, will cover the associated costs.
