Bill Summary

This bill adds dysmenorrhea, which is pain associated with menstruation, to the list of medical conditions for which a doctor may authorize medical marijuana for a patient. In order for a patient to be authorized for medical marijuana for this purpose, the bill requires the patient's dysmenorrhea to be resistant to conventional medical therapy. Medical marijuana may currently be authorized to treat a number of medical conditions that are otherwise resistant to conventional therapy, including seizure disorders, intractable skeletal muscular spasticity, and glaucoma, as well as certain other conditions.
