This bill ratifies and validates all actions and policies of the Town of Huntington related to health insurance, even if there were any procedural errors in how they adopted Chapter 32B of the Massachusetts General Laws, which governs municipal group insurance. It also confirms that Chapter 32B, including specific sections related to health insurance benefits, is considered to have been accepted and is in effect for the town. Importantly, the bill establishes a new contribution structure for retiree health insurance: the Town of Huntington will pay 50 percent of the premium cost for eligible retirees who retire *after* June 30, 2016, but will pay nothing for those who retired *on or before* that date. Furthermore, any eligible retiree separating from town employment after June 30, 2016, has 30 days from their retirement date to elect to continue their participation in the town's health insurance plan, subject to the insurance provider's terms, or they will be considered to have waived their right to do so.
