This bill mandates that the department develop a curriculum and training program focused on preventing and eliminating discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) elders and their caregivers, and on improving their access to services. This training must be completed by all individuals and organizations that provide services under contract with or receive funding from the department, Aging Service Access Points (local agencies that help seniors access services), or the MassHealth Office of Long Term Care (a state program for long-term care services), or whose services are certified by the department. The training was required to be completed by July 1, 2018, but for any new providers after that date, it must be completed within the first six months of their employment, contract, or certification.
