This bill authorizes counties imposing the tourist development tax to use those tax revenues for auditoriums that are publicly owned but operated by organizations that are exempt from federal taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and open to the public, in addition to the previously allowed uses such as convention centers, sports stadiums, and publicly owned and operated museums. The bill also clarifies that the tourist development tax can be used to fund certain administrative costs related to convention bureaus and tourist information centers. The bill takes effect on July 1, 2017.
