This bill seeks to establish guidelines to restrict purchases under the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), commonly known as "food stamps," to the same items that recipients of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are restricted to, as well as purchases of meat. The bill defines "meat" as the edible flesh of poultry, birds, or animals sold for human consumption, including livestock, poultry, and their products. The bill requires the Secretary of Human Services to seek a waiver from the federal government to implement these restrictions on SNAP purchases.
