This bill limits the personal liability of volunteers performing services for a nonprofit organization. It defines a "nonprofit organization" as an entity operating under the standards of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and a "volunteer" as an individual performing unpaid services for a nonprofit organization, except for meals or meal stipends provided by the organization. The bill provides immunity from personal liability for a volunteer if they acted in good faith, within the scope of their official duties, were properly licensed or authorized, and the damage or injury was not caused by their intentional or malicious conduct. The bill is set to take effect on July 1, 2017.
