This bill amends current law to: 1. Limit the payment of supplemental compensation at retirement for accumulated unused sick leave to a maximum of $10,000 for all public officers and employees, down from the previous $15,000 limit. Current officers and employees will be permitted to retain any supplemental compensation for unused sick leave already accrued up to $10,000 or the amount accrued, whichever is greater. 2. Limit the carrying forward of vacation leave to one year only for all public officers and employees, except that those currently employed will be permitted to retain and use any vacation leave already accrued. The bill specifies that it shall not be construed to impair the obligation of any collective negotiations agreement or individual contract of employment with relevant provisions in effect on the bill's effective date.
