This bill makes several changes to the membership and sunset dates of various professional licensing boards in New Mexico. Specifically, it: 1) Increases penalties for unlicensed activities in certain professions, allowing licensing boards to impose civil penalties of up to $2,000. 2) Extends the sunset dates for several boards, including the New Mexico Athletic Commission, the Board of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the Board of Examiners for Architects, the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Professional Surveyors, the Interior Design Board, the Private Investigations Advisory Board, the New Mexico Public Accountancy Board, and the Real Estate Appraisers Board, allowing them to continue operating until July 1, 2024. 3) Changes the membership requirements for the Board of Examiners for Architects and the Private Investigations Advisory Board, requiring the addition of public members who are not part of the regulated professions. 4) Grants additional enforcement and disciplinary powers to various licensing boards, allowing them to impose administrative fines and costs on unlicensed individuals.
