This bill requires sex offenders who fail to register or verify their registration on two or more occasions to wear a location-tracking device while on probation, parole, conditional release, or post-release supervision. A location-transmitting device, attached and monitored by the supervising agency, will be used to track the offender's whereabouts. Failure to wear this device will result in a Class D felony, which is a serious crime, and can also lead to the revocation of their parole or probation, meaning their supervised release could be terminated. This measure adds a new layer of monitoring for repeat offenders who have demonstrated a disregard for registration requirements.
