The resolution highlights how O'Connor collaborated with his student, Gabriel Filippini, and organizations like Enabling the Future, which provides open-source designs for 3-D printed prosthetics, and Makersmiths, a nonprofit that supplied crucial parts, to develop the prosthetic. This collaborative effort resulted in Lucas receiving the life-changing prosthetic on his birthday in 2016, enabling him to master everyday tasks and inspiring his community, with plans to create larger hands as he grows. The General Assembly is expressing its admiration for O'Connor's compassionate and technologically advanced contribution to the child's well-being.
