AI Summary
This bill establishes the Mississippi Critical Needs School District Tax Credit Program to attract and retain first-year and veteran teachers in school districts that meet certain criteria, such as low graduation rates, high teacher turnover, and a high percentage of low-income students. The program provides an income tax credit of up to $1,200 per year for teachers who commit to serving in these critical needs school districts for at least four years. The tax credit is available for a maximum of 10 years, with exceptions if a teacher leaves the district early. The program aims to incentivize teachers to work in underserved areas and remain in these districts over the long term.
