This bill amends the law governing optional participation for charter schools in the Teachers' and State Employees' Retirement System (TSERS). It changes the timeframe for when a charter school can seek provisional entry into TSERS, allowing them to do so within the first two years of operation rather than just the first year. It also allows charter schools seeking to join TSERS after the first two years to undergo a financial and actuarial review before entry, rather than requiring it. The bill takes effect on August 1, 2017.
