This bill aims to restrict the profits that criminals can make from their crimes. It has three key provisions: 1. It requires the sentencing judge to impose a term of probation on the defendant, which includes a special condition prohibiting the defendant from engaging in any activity that generates profit or financial benefit from publishing or disseminating information related to their crime or experience with the criminal justice system. 2. It allows the court, upon request of the Commonwealth or a victim, to order the defendant to pay restitution to the victim for any profit or financial benefit the defendant has received or been promised from the publication or dissemination of information related to their crime or experience with the criminal justice system. 3. It amends existing law to require entities that contract with or pay a defendant, knowing or reasonably believing that the payment may constitute proceeds of a crime, to notify the state's Division of Victim Compensation and Assistance within 30 days. Failure to do so can result in a civil penalty.
