This bill aims to provide continuity of care for families enrolled in MassHealth, the state's Medicaid program. It requires the Office of Medicaid to make efforts to assign children under 18 to the same primary care provider they had before, either the one chosen by the family or the one previously assigned by MassHealth, when they re-enroll after a lapse in coverage of less than 18 months or when they change managed care plans. It also requires the Office of Medicaid to assign newborn children to the same primary care provider as their older siblings, unless the family chooses a different provider. The bill ensures that children can still see the provider they should have been assigned to and that the provider will be reimbursed for any visit, even if the requirements were not initially met.
