This bill aims to ensure resident safety within assisted living facilities. It requires each assisted living residence to have 24-hour coverage of at least one on-site Automated External Defibrillator (AED) provider and have at least one AED readily available on-site. The bill also prohibits assisted living residences from preventing staff trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or AED use from administering such emergency assistance to a resident who does not have a documented or visible do-not-resuscitate order. The bill allows assisted living residences to require documentation of proper training from staff before permitting them to render emergency care, and to prohibit untrained staff from administering such assistance. Additionally, the bill prevents assisted living residences from retaliating against trained staff who render emergency assistance.
