This bill amends Chapter 7 of the General Laws to establish a state employee sick leave bank. The bill allows state employees, including those in the executive branch and the trial court, to voluntarily contribute their accrued sick, personal, or vacation days to a sick leave bank. Employees who are not enrolled in the extended illness leave bank or have exhausted that leave can apply to receive days from the sick leave bank if they are experiencing an illness or disability. The secretary of administration and finance will prescribe regulations governing the eligibility, donation, and distribution of the sick leave bank. When an employee no longer needs the sick leave bank or leaves employment, any remaining days will be transferred to the extended illness leave bank or the trial court paid leave bank.
