Bill Summary

Relative to the dispensing of prescription drugs by pharmacists. Public Health.

AI Summary

This bill amends Massachusetts law to allow pharmacists to dispense a 90-day supply of certain prescription drugs in Schedule VI (the lowest level) under certain conditions. It also allows pharmacists to dispense less than a 30-day supply of any prescription with additional authorized refills if it is in the best interest of the patient and the patient requests or agrees to it, for the purpose of synchronizing the filling of the patient's medications on the same date. Finally, the bill directs the Department of Public Health to promulgate rules and regulations in consultation with the Board of Registration in Pharmacy to implement these changes.
