This bill amends Section 14 of Chapter 90 of the General Laws to increase the fines for unlawfully passing a school bus. The first offense will now carry a fine of $500 to $1,000, and subsequent offenses will carry a fine of $1,000 to $2,000. The bill also requires the immediate revocation of the offender's driver's license, with a minimum 180-day suspension for a first offense and a 1-year suspension for subsequent offenses. Additionally, if the violation occurs in the presence of a law enforcement officer, the officer must immediately confiscate the driver's license, provide written notification of the suspension, and impound the vehicle for 12 hours at the driver's expense.
