This bill revises the limitations on the maximum length of participation in the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) for certain instructional personnel and administrative personnel in grades K-12. For those who enter DROP before July 1, 2017, the bill allows them to continue participating until the last day of the last calendar month of the school year in which their termination date occurs, even if that exceeds the standard 60-month limitation. For those who enter DROP on or after July 1, 2017, their termination date must be the last day of the last calendar month of the school year. The bill also requires employers to notify the Division of Retirement of the Department of Management Services of any change in termination date and program participation for affected members.
