This bill requires the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) to contract with a vendor to evaluate health information technology activities within the state and identify best practices for developing data systems that will provide health care providers with real-time access to their patients' health records and increase interoperability across delivery systems. The bill also revises provisions relating to third-party liability for Medicaid payments, including expanding the definition of "third party" and requiring entities providing health insurance or other third-party coverage to respond to payment requests within a specific timeframe. The bill also provides a $500,000 appropriation from the Health Care Trust Fund to AHCA to implement the act, which is set to take effect on July 1, 2017.
