Bill Summary

Relative to Group Insurance Commission healthcare premium contributions. Public Service.

AI Summary

This bill amends Section 8 of Chapter 32A of the General Laws to establish a minimum 80% contribution by the Commonwealth towards the total monthly premium or rate for group life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and group health insurance purchased by the Group Insurance Commission (GIC) on behalf of active and retired employees and their dependents. The remaining 20% of the premium or rate would be contributed by the active and retired employees. The bill also allows the Commonwealth to contribute more than 80% but less than the entire premium or rate, as approved through the annual or more frequent appropriation act.
