This bill establishes an interscholastic athletic competition working group to review and analyze current operations of interscholastic competitions or events, assess the site selection process, scheduling and timing impacts on school districts, costs, and financial impacts related to post regular season interscholastic competitions or events, examine the current state of gender equality present in interscholastic competitions or events, and examine the criteria used to determine how an activity is classified as an interscholastic sport. The group will include representatives from the Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, the Massachusetts Secondary School Administrators' Association, the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, and two athletic directors from school districts of different sizes. The group will issue a final report with its findings and recommendations within six months of its first meeting.
