This bill allows certain state contract employees to establish up to 10 years of creditable service in the state employees' retirement system, provided they have at least 10 years of continuous, full-time service as a contract employee and their job description is substantially similar to the position they hold upon entering or re-entering the state retirement system. To receive this credit, the employee must pay into the Annuity Savings Fund an amount equal to what would have been withheld as regular deductions had they been a state employee during that time, plus interest. Once the payments are completed, the employee will receive the same credit as if the service had been rendered as a state employee.
