This bill aims to reduce asthma and other health issues caused by toxic chemicals in cleaning products used in schools, daycares, public buildings, and public housing in Massachusetts. The bill also mandates training for cleaning personnel on the use and disposal of the approved safer cleaning products, and allows for accommodations for individuals with chemical sensitivities. The Department of Public Health will establish and maintain a list of approved safer cleaning products, and manufacturers will be required to pay a fee to cover the costs of administering the program. Penalties are included for facilities and distributors that use or sell unapproved cleaning products.
