It allows for the disposal of such treated wood waste in either a Class I hazardous waste landfill or a specially designed composite-lined portion of a solid waste landfill that meets certain requirements and is regulated for designated waste or treated wood waste. The bill also mandates that wholesalers and retailers of treated wood post prominent warnings about potential dangers and proper handling and disposal, and requires the wood preserving industry to provide detailed information on managing treated wood waste through various channels. Furthermore, it directs state agencies to develop alternative management standards for treated wood waste, ensuring environmental protection and worker safety, and allows individuals managing treated wood waste to comply with either these new standards or existing hazardous waste regulations. The bill includes provisions for reporting on its implementation and sets an expiration date for these regulations.
