Bill Summary
So much of the recommendations of the Teachers’ Retirement Board (House, No. 21) as relates to the forfeiture of pension upon conviction of child pornography and other offenses. Public Service.
AI Summary
This bill amends existing Massachusetts law to expand the definition of "criminal offense involving violation of the laws applicable to his office or position" to include a teacher's conviction for knowingly purchasing or possessing visual material of a child depicted in sexual conduct, as well as convictions for sex offenses involving a child or other sex/sexually violent offenses where the victim was under 18 years old. This would result in the forfeiture of the teacher's pension upon such a conviction. The provisions of the bill would only apply to criminal offenses committed on or after the effective date of the legislation.
