This bill requires the State of New Jersey to reimburse school districts for the costs of transporting homeless students to and from school. Under current law, the district of residence is responsible for paying the transportation costs, but this bill shifts that responsibility to the State. The bill also clarifies that the State will reimburse the costs for districts that provide transportation to homeless students who have resided in a domestic violence shelter or transitional living facility for more than a year.
