AI Summary
This bill amends section 255 of the Michigan Vehicle Code to modify the civil infraction procedures for failing to place a valid registration tab on a vehicle within 30 days of the date of registration. Specifically, it provides that a printed or electronic copy of a valid registration or verification through the Law Enforcement Information Network (L.E.I.N.) is proof that the vehicle is registered or the registration has been renewed, and the 30-day period does not apply to the first registration of a vehicle after a transfer of ownership or to a transfer registration. The bill also clarifies the penalties for operating a vehicle without a valid registration, including potential impoundment and associated fees. The bill takes effect 90 days after being enacted into law.
