Bill Summary

Under current law, a county library commission and the board of trustees of any regional, municipal, or joint public library may purchase certain library materials without advertising for bids. These library materials include: books, periodicals, newspapers, documents, pamphlets, photographs, reproductions, microforms, pictorial or graphic works, musical scores, maps, charts, globes, sound recordings, slides, films, filmstrips, video and magnetic tapes, other printed or published matter, and audiovisual and other materials of a similar nature. This bill amends that law to allow public libraries to also dispose of those materials without advertising for bids.

AI Summary

This bill amends New Jersey law to allow public libraries, including county library commissions and municipal or joint free public library boards, to dispose of certain library materials, such as books, periodicals, and audiovisual resources, without the requirement to advertise for bids. This change provides more flexibility for public libraries to manage their collections and materials as needed.
