This bill amends the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 to permit Medicaid coverage for citizens of the Freely Associated States (the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau) who are lawfully residing in the United States under the Compacts of Free Association. The bill also exempts these individuals from the 5-year limited eligibility for Medicaid and other federal public benefits, and amends the definition of "qualified alien" to include them for purposes of Medicaid eligibility. The amendments made by this bill would apply to benefits for items and services furnished on or after the date of the bill's enactment.
