Bill Summary

This bill permits any former freeholder, surrogate, county clerk, county register of deeds and mortgages, elected county executive, sheriff, or any other elected officer of any county who has served for one term or longer, but who no longer occupies that position, to obtain special license plates that are of a design approved by the Chief Administrator of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission to convey appropriate recognition of the person's service as a former elected county official. The fee for the special license plates is to be $50 in addition to the fees otherwise prescribed by law for the registration of a motor vehicle. The bill clarifies that the special license plates that are to be obtained by current and former county officials are to apply to elected county officials
