AI Summary

This bill repeals and replaces Section 163.172 of the Missouri Revised Statutes to raise the minimum teacher salary in the state. Starting in the 2019-20 school year, the minimum teacher salary will be set at $30,000, subject to appropriation, up from the previous minimum of $25,000 that had been in place since the 2009-10 school year. For teachers with a master's degree and at least 10 years of experience, the minimum salary will be raised to $35,000, also subject to appropriation, up from the previous $33,000 minimum. The bill also creates a new "Teacher Minimum Salary Fund" in the state treasury to distribute funding to school districts to help them meet the new minimum salary requirements.
