This bill authorizes the Department of Corrections to allow inmates who may not otherwise qualify for work release to be released on electronic monitoring. The department must administer a risk assessment tool to determine an inmate's appropriateness for this release. The bill also allows inmates to participate in supervised community release, which includes electronic monitoring and community control, up to 90 days before their provisional or tentative release date. The bill creates a process for state prisoners with unserved violation of probation or community control warrants to have the court order their transport to the county jail for prosecution of the violation.
