This bill provides an exception to the prohibition on possessing firearms or other specified devices on school property or other specified areas for authorized concealed weapon or firearm licensees who are designated by school principals or district school superintendents. The bill also requires district school boards to formulate and prescribe policies and procedures for active shooter and hostage situations, and requires a district school superintendent to provide specified agencies with recommendations to improve school safety and security. Additionally, the bill allows law enforcement agencies designated as first responders to school campuses to tour such campuses once every 3 years and requires documentation of any safety-related changes recommended by the agencies.
