This bill revises the limitations on the maximum length of participation in the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) for certain instructional personnel and administrative personnel in grades K-12. Specifically, it allows instructional personnel to participate in DROP for up to 36 calendar months beyond the initial 60-month period, with the termination date being the last day of the last calendar month of the school year. It also allows administrative personnel to extend their DROP participation beyond the initial 60-month period until the last day of the last calendar month of the school year in which their original DROP termination date occurred. The employer is required to notify the Division of Retirement of the Department of Management Services of any change in termination date and program participation for the affected members.
