Bill Summary
AN ACT To repeal section 208.662, RSMo, and to enact in lieu thereof one new section relating to the show-me healthy babies program.
AI Summary
This bill repeals and replaces Section 208.662 of the Missouri Revised Statutes to extend postpartum substance abuse treatment coverage for mothers under the Show-Me Healthy Babies program. The bill allows for up to one year of postpartum substance abuse treatment coverage, in addition to the existing pregnancy-related and postpartum coverage that extends through 60 days after the pregnancy ends. The Show-Me Healthy Babies program provides health insurance coverage for low-income unborn children whose mothers do not qualify for Medicaid and do not have access to affordable health insurance. The bill also requires the Department of Social Services to provide information about the program to relevant agencies and organizations that assist unborn children and their mothers.
