This bill: Provides limitations on prescriptions of certain opioids, allowing only a 3-day supply for initial or refill prescriptions to treat acute pain unless the prescribing physician believes a longer supply is medically necessary. It prohibits the possession or use of devices capable of manufacturing pills, tablets, or capsules containing controlled substances. It revises the list of controlled substances subject to drug trafficking offenses, removing specific references to hydrocodone, oxycodone, and fentanyl and instead applying the trafficking provisions more broadly to any controlled substances in certain schedules. It also increases the sentencing multiplier for drug trafficking offenses from 1.5 to 2.0.
