This bill amends existing Florida law to provide that a legal guardian shall have access, under certain circumstances, to a photograph, video, or audio recording of an autopsy held by a medical examiner. The bill also makes autopsy reports and related written records that personally identify the deceased confidential and exempt from public disclosure for 10 days after the medical examiner has completed the report, with limited exceptions for surviving spouses, parents, and legal guardians. The bill includes a statement of public necessity explaining the need for the confidentiality provisions and provides for future legislative review and repeal of the exemption.
