This bill creates the Rhode Island Municipal Infrastructure Grant Program within the Department of Administration. The program will provide grants to municipalities and other public entities for the design, construction, and improvement of public infrastructure projects such as sewers, roads, water treatment systems, and public transit. The grants can be used to support job creation, housing development, and community development projects in areas best suited for future growth and redevelopment. The program will have at least one open solicitation period per year, and the director of administration can establish rules and regulations to govern the application and distribution of the grants. The director must also report annually on the projects that received grant funds, their economic impact, and other sources of public funding.
