Bill Summary

This bill specifies that the holder of a limited brewery license may allow the consumption of food by consumers on the licensed premises of the brewery. Under current law, the holder of a limited brewery license is entitled to brew up to 300,000 barrels of 31 fluid gallons capacity per year of malt alcoholic beverages to sell and distribute to wholesalers and retailers. These licensees are authorized to sell their product at retail to consumers on the licensed premises for on-site consumption, but only in connection with a tour of the brewery. The licensee is prohibited under current law from selling food and operating a restaurant on the licensed premises. Under this bill, consumers would be allowed to consume food on the licensed premises of a limited brewery. The bill would allow patrons of limited breweries to purchase food from a vendor not owned by the licensee, or from a restaurant or other type of food vendor off the licensed premises, to be consumed on the licensed premises of the brewery.

AI Summary

This bill allows the holder of a limited brewery license in New Jersey to permit the consumption of food by consumers on the licensed premises of the brewery. Previously, limited breweries were only allowed to sell their products for on-site consumption in connection with a tour of the brewery, and were prohibited from selling food or operating a restaurant. Under this bill, patrons of limited breweries can now purchase food from vendors not owned by the licensee or from restaurants off the licensed premises, and consume that food on the brewery's premises.
