Bill Summary

This bill would establish criminal penalties for fifth and subsequent offenses of driving under the influence (DUI). Currently, DUI is a traffic offense under Title 39 of the Revised Statutes (the State motor vehicle code). Under the provisions of the bill, a person who is convicted of a fifth or subsequent DUI offense would be guilty of a crime of the third degree.
