This bill relieves municipal police and firefighter bargaining representatives from their obligation to represent employees in grievances or arbitrations if those employees were not members of the bargaining unit within the 90 days prior to the events that caused the grievance. The bill allows employees who have not maintained membership in the employee organization for at least 90 days to pursue a grievance against their employer at their own expense, but the exclusive representative is not required to incur any expenses related to such a grievance.
