This bill amends existing law to revise certain requirements for examination and licensure of professional engineers and professional land surveyors, and removes provisions regarding failed examinations. Specifically, the bill: 1. Modifies the requirements for certification as an engineer intern or land surveyor intern, as well as licensure as a professional engineer or professional land surveyor, by updating the language around examinations and experience requirements. 2. Removes the specific requirements for additional education and experience after failed examinations, and instead grants the board discretion in determining the necessary additional knowledge to warrant assignment to a subsequent examination. 3. Allows the board to issue a restricted license to engineering faculty with an earned doctorate degree, without requiring them to pass a technical examination, as long as they remain employed by a college or university in the state and teach upper division engineering courses.
