This bill revises the definition of "employer" in the workers' compensation law, R.S.34:15-1 et seq., to exempt certain partnerships from the requirements of that law. The bill provides that a partnership is not subject to the requirements of the workers' compensation law if there are only two partners and if there is no other individual or individuals that perform services for the partnership. The bill revises the definition of "employee" in the law to permit an S corporation that has only one individual who performs services for the corporation and is the only shareholder in the corporation to choose whether or not to obtain workers' compensation coverage.
