This bill provides several exemptions from public records and public meetings requirements related to school safety measures. Specifically, it exempts the identity of individuals who report suspicious activities through a mobile reporting tool, as well as any other information received through the tool, from public records. It also exempts portions of meetings of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Commission where exempt or confidential information is discussed from public meetings requirements. Additionally, the bill exempts information that would identify whether an individual has been appointed as a "safe-school officer" from public records. The purpose of these exemptions is to encourage reporting of potential threats, protect the privacy of individuals involved, and ensure the effective functioning of the school safety commission and the safe-school officer program.
