This bill, the National Economic Security Strategy Act of 2018, requires the President to periodically submit a national economic security strategy to Congress. This strategy would assess the global competitive position of key U.S. economic sectors, the national debt and its implications for economic and national security, and prioritize economic security interests and objectives. It would also identify threats, challenges, and opportunities, as well as the tools needed to address them. The strategy would integrate and coordinate with the national security and defense strategies to support U.S. prosperity and competitiveness in the face of increasing international economic competition.
