This bill, the Next Generation in Agriculture Act, aims to support opportunities for beginning farmers and ranchers. It amends the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 to expand the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program, including by increasing funding and adding food safety as an eligible use of funds. The bill also establishes a National Beginning Farmer and Rancher Coordinator and State Coordinators to improve coordination and delivery of USDA programs for beginning farmers and ranchers. Additionally, it creates an Agricultural Youth Coordinator to promote agricultural education and help youth access USDA programs. The bill further establishes a next generation agriculture technology challenge competition and increases the premium subsidy for crop insurance for beginning farmers and ranchers from 5% to 10%.
