Bill Summary

Coast Guard Blue Technology Center of Expertise Act

AI Summary

This bill directs the Commandant of the Coast Guard to establish a Blue Technology center of expertise within one year, subject to the availability of appropriations. The center's missions include promoting awareness of Blue Technologies (any technology, system, or platform applicable to Coast Guard operational needs above, on, or below the sea surface) and their potential to enhance the Coast Guard's mission readiness, operational performance, and regulation. The center will also function as an interactive conduit to enable the sharing of Blue Technology information between the Coast Guard and representatives from the private sector, academia, nonprofits, and other federal agencies. Additionally, the bill requires the Commandant to provide a briefing on the costs and benefits of hosting a biennial Coast Guard Blue Technology exposition to further interactions between these stakeholders and examine emerging technologies and Coast Guard mission demands.
