Bill Summary

This bill requires that a public school counselor or teacher discuss with students enrolled in grades 9 through 12 the employment opportunities available as a skilled laborer or through military enlistment or in agriculture. In discussing military enlistment, the school counselor or teacher will provide the student with information concerning the military enlistment test. The bill directs the Commissioner of Education, in consultation with the Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development and the Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture, to provide these public schools with information on the opportunities for employment as a skilled laborer or in agriculture and on the education, certificate, or apprenticeship that may be required to qualify for such employment.
